When people say that Crowded House, a band from Melbourne, are from New Zealand. Neil and Tim Finn’s previous band, Split Enz, was from New Zealand, but Crowded House are from Melbourne, which is in Australia. Not New Zealand. Crowded House are the pavlova of music.

Australia always claims successful people of other nationalities on the merest sniff of an Australian connection. Examples include (but are by no means limited to) Mel Gibson, Russell Crowe and John Butler. Oh and the late great John Clarke.
